Trandate is used in combination with the other drugs or alone for the treatment of hypertension. Reducing the blood pressure allows you to avoid strokes, heart attacks, and kidney diseases.
The drug belongs to the groups of alpha- and beta blockers. It acts by preventing the action of some natural chemicals in your organism (like epinephrine) on the cardiovascular system. This effect reduces the heartbeat, blood pressure, and pressure on the heart.
Take Trandate orally two times a day. You can take this drug irrespective of the mealtime. However, you should use it at the same time and in the same way every day.
Dosage depends on your health state and reaction to the drug. To decrease your risk of adverse effects, your physician may tell you to start this drug at a small dose and gradually enhance it. Always stick to the doctor’s prescriptions.
Use this drug on a regular basis to achieve the maximum effect. It is better to take it at the same time every day.
You should take Trandate for a few weeks for the treatment of hypertension. You should keep taking this drug even if you note the improvements. Most patients with hypertension don’t experience sickness.
Inform your doctor if your state doesn’t improve or even gets worse (for instance, your blood pressure stays high or even enhances).
Vertigo and weakness may happen. Tingling in head may happen as well as your body gets adjusted to the treatment. Decreased libido is a rare adverse effect. If any of the above-mentioned conditions persists or gets worse, inform your physician at once.
To reduce the risk of vertigo and dizziness, always stand up gradually after sitting or lying.
This medication may decrease the blood flow to your extremities, making them feel cold. Smoking may aggravate this state. Dress warmly and don’t smoke.
Keep in mind that your physician has prescribed this drug, as he/she believes that its benefit outweighs the risk of adverse effects. Many patients taking Trandate don’t have severe adverse effects.
Tell your physician at once if any of these severe adverse effects happen: reduced heart rate, vertigo, blackouts, blue fingers, breathing difficulty, aggravated symptoms of coronary insufficiency (like swollen feet, weakness, breathing difficulty, sudden weight change), mood swings (including mental confusion, mood changes and depression).
In rare cases, Trandate may cause severe (or even fatal) liver problem. If you not any of the below-mentioned rare but severe adverse effects, contact your doctor immediately: constant sickness/vomiting, serious stomachache, jaundice and change in the color of urine.
A very severe allergic response to this medicine is rare. Nevertheless, call the emergency if you note any signs of a severe allergic response, including: rash, itching, face swelling, vertigo and breathing difficulty.
Before starting the treatment with Trandate, inform your doctor if you have allergy to it or any other drugs/foods. This medicine may contain inactive components that can cause allergic responses or other complications. Ask your doctor for additional information.
This drug must not be used if you suffer from certain diseases. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor if you have: certain kinds of heart rhythm issues (like reduced heart rate, AV block), coronary insufficiency, breathing difficulty (including asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema).
